Dolpo Region Trek

Dolpo Trek lies in the remote and backward part of mid-western part of Nepal beyond Dhaulagiri massif and connected with Tibet plateau. It is rugged, stark and beautiful land characterized by high passes and a community of Tibetan-stock people who follow Tibetan Buddhism and the old pre-Buddhist religion of Bon, the area were restricted to outsiders until recently. The world’s deepest Lake Shey-Phokshundo lies here (706 square km) at an altitude of 3600m and many more famous lakes. The home of herbal land, unspoiled trans-Himalayan culture, Buddhist monuments and unique human civilization at high altitude is worth a visit. Trekking around the Dolpo region is an unforgettable journey in every visitor's life. Observing different rain shadow landscapes with stunning mountain views, wild flowers, Himalayan blue sheep, snow leopards and huge birds Himalayan griffon. It's difficult to grow crops there, which makes life difficult for the local people, so most of them are involved in the salt trade from Tibet, this traditional culture continue in Doplo generation to generation. The Bonpo Tribe people (former Buddhist followers) are unique in their cultural and social tradition. The Dolpo people continue a lifestyle unchanged for centuries, subsisting by trading their meager barley for rock salt from Tibet and rice from the south. Trekking along these ancient trade routes provides spectacular scenery and a deep insight into the lives and customs of this unique people and attractive snowy peaks including Kanjiriba north (6883m), Kanjiriba south (6861m), Dhaulagiri I (8167m), Churen Himal (7381m), Putha Hiunchuli (7249m), Mukot Himal (6639m), Araniko Chuli (6034m) and many more mountains can be seen from the trek.
