The kanchanjunga (8586 M) is
situated in the eastern
border of Nepal and India.
This region was opened for
trekking tourism only in
1988. This trek is
relatively strenuous since
the region is regarded as
the most remote place of
Nepal. However, the rich
flora and fauna and the
glorious height of
kanchanjunga make the
trekking full of excitement
and pleasure. The
Kanchenjunga region is very
rich from the point of view
of its natural beauty. There
are three peaks above 8000
mt. and as many as eleven
peaks above 7000 M in this
region. Number of glaciers
originated from Himalayas
has no doubt added to the
beauty of this region. The
northern part of the
kanchanjunga region is
inhabited by the Sherpa
whereas the southern lower
part is full of the ethnic
groups such as Rai, Limbu,
Magar, Tamang, Brahman and
chhetri. The diversity in
religion and culture is also
the most attraction of this
trek.
